History of Inland Northwest Dance Association Inc.:
Inland Northwest Dance Association Inc. was established in 1991. The date of 501(c)3 incorporation was 03/17/2003.
Over the past eighteen years, INDA has hosted receptions for dance companies that have come to perform in Spokane. INDA has also presented a Fall Dance Workshop in Spokane for eighteen years in which we host professional faculty to teach in their field of expertise. In conjunction with the Fall Dance Workshop, INDA has brought five different professional dance companies to Spokane. Clarita and the Arte Flamenco came from Los Angeles California (2001), Rainbow Dance Theatre from Monmouth Oregon (2004 & 2008), Savage Jazz Dance Company from Oakland California (2005), Ballet Gran Folklorico from Mexico City (2006), and Body Vox from Portland Oregon (2007).
Life of A Dancer, was a benefit show presented by INDA on 04/29/01 that raised $2,033.75 for the Beijing Chinese Dancers killed and injured after performing in Spokane.
In association with National Dance Week representing the state of Washington, on 04/30/2005, INDA presented the first DanceFest at Spokane Community College Lair Building. This successful FREE festival featured all forms of dance under one roof at the same time. The public was treated to performances, classes, arts and crafts, a health fair, vendor booths, and an art gallery with over 2,500 people in attendance. The second DanceFest was held on 04/29/2006 with over 3,000 attending. The event continued to grow with the third DanceFest held on 04/28/2007, the fourth DanceFest was held on 04/26/08, and the fifth DanceFest was held on 04/25/2009 with over 4,000 attending at Spokane Community College Lair Building. The sixth DanceFest 2010 will be held on 04/24/2010 in Coeur dAlene Idaho in the new facility, The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center. For the past 5 years Inland Northwest Dance Association has performed at Art on The Green at North Idaho College as part of the Northwest Dance Collective. On 11/09/09 Inland Northwest Dance Association, Inc. was issued a Certificate of Authority in the state of Idaho for Non-Profit Corporations.
